Education
If you want to get a job as a Bookkeeper and are still in high school, make sure to include courses in English, mathematics, computers and any courses available in office practices.
Get some experience working in an office. Learn how to use a variety of relevant computer programs.
Some Bookkeepers may be hired with only a high school diploma. These would then receive on-the-job training from a supervisor.
If you want to be eligible for the better, higher paying, positions, get at least an associate’s degree in business or accounting. Associate degree programs last for two years. To be a Bookkeeper, you do not need to be certified, but certification does make you a more desirable employee, as it is a concrete testament to you skill, knowledge, and dedication to your profession.
